Since the second year of my PhD, I have focused on artificial intelligence and its application. The media have hyped deep learning a lot for a series of successful applications. I have to confess that the media bombardment really got into me and I decided to learn more about deep learning. The purpose of doing this is to understand what is deep learning about, what I can do in bioinformatics with it and what is the limitation.
Comments in October 2018: In hindsight, what I learned is more than the technique mentioned in the course: it has given me some spurs to think deeper about artificial intelligence, human cognition and some philosophy beyond. I am grateful for this.
